Organic or Chemical Exfoliating Products?

As a natural skin care practitioner you may often find yourself in the difficult situation of choosing optimal results or staying to true to your desire to keep nothing but naturals touching your face.

It’s a difficult situation for you. This especially true when it comes to exfoliating products, which have seen major scientific advances in recent years to improve their effectiveness while minimizing side effects.

Now you may want to stay true to your natural roots no matter what, but in doing so you very well may be missing out on more beautiful skin, while potentially setting yourself up for some potentially damaging side effects.

The Problem With Many Organic Exfoliating Products

It goes without saying that there are many benefits to utilizing organic exfoliating products. Nor is there any point in saying that organic exfoliating products don’t get result.

The problem is, many organic exfoliating products come in the form of a scrub containing ingredients that have a likelihood of causing intense facial irritation, and even worse, facial scaring.

How does this happen? It’s simple. Because your skin (or anyone’s skin) was not designed to take the abrasion that most organic exfoliating products use to remove the dead layer of skin cells that cause dull or rough skin appearance an irritation occurs.

Depending on your skin type and sensitivity, you could experience intense dryness, redness or at the far end, permanent scars.

Glycolic Acid: The Problem Solver

This scenario is in stark contrast to an experience one would find using a glycolic exfoliating product. Glycolic acid is the new standard being used by dermatologists across the world for in office facial peels and spot treatments.

Glycolic acid is stronger than salicylic acid, the once king of acne treatments, without the harsh side effects such as redden or dry skin.

This is due to the chemical makeup of glycolic acid that allows the percentage used during a treatment to be precisely controlled. Ensuring the right amount is used to remove the layer of dead skin cells on your face without any harsh side effects.

And unlike most organic exfoliating products, glycolic acid based exfoliants can be found in a multitude of application methods; exfoliating pads, creams and serums all exist.

Decisions, Decisions

Staying true to your skin care beliefs or change them to allow for you to realize more effect exfoliating products with less potential side effects?

It’s a question only you can answer. Hopefully this article helps you to consider whether or not glycolic exfoliating products are right for you.

What to Choose: Antiperspirants

In spite of deodorants class of antiperspirants are considered as drugs. Antiperspirants aim to cease or significantly diminish process of perspiration and thus cut down the damp environment where bacteria develop.

Antiperspirants work to preclude perspiration by affecting sweat gland and as well as blocking the pores with such strong astringents as aluminum salts so that the pores can’t excrete sweat. The clogging of sweat glands decline the volume of sweat released in the underarms.

Antiperspirants are designed to be used for the armpits, while deodorants may also be applied to feet and other areas of body as well. Due to they don’t interfere with sweating which is a natural process of body cooling, deodorants are more desirable to apply.

In spite the fact that according to recent research, antiperspirants contained aluminum salts are safe; aluminium in very high doses has been considered as a neurotoxin and it can adversely impact on the blood-brain barrier and has hostile epigenetic effects.

Aerosol antiperspirants gained popularity due to they dispense a spray without contact with the underarm area. Though, in 1977 the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) prohibited the active ingredient aluminum used in aerosols, due to harmful effect of inhalation during long time and whereas, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) limited the application of propellants used in aerosols because these gases promote to destroy the ozone layer.

As the popularity of aerosols began to decrease, roll-on forms antiperspirants became more popular. Nowadays, stick form is the most popular type of deodorants.

What to Choose: Deodorants

The first underarm deodorants were invented in the 9th century in Al-Andalus. The first modern deodorant was introduced in the U.S. in the late nineteenth century. In the early 1960s was produced Gillette's Right Guard, the first aerosol antiperspirant in the market.

Generally people consider antiperspirants and deodorants as the same thing, however, they aren’t. So, what select a natural deodorant or an antiperspirant?

Deodorants are applied to destroy smell of sweat in armpits and feet. Human perspiration is odor-free; smell is caused by bacteria colonization thriving in hot, moist habitat of body’s underarm. The bacteria feed sweat, releasing acid, which invokes smell.

Deodorants are labeled as cosmetics aimed to remove odor. They operate to neutralize the odor of sweat and disinfect bacteria. Deodorants usually contain alcohol and as well perfume or essential oils. Alcohol initially stimulates sweating, but may also destroy bacteria. Scent of perfume and natural oils aims to conceal the smell of perspiration.

There are various kinds of deodorants. For example, a roll-on deodorant, a spray deodorant, a stick deodorant. So, you can choose any kind among them and enjoy purity and freshness.

The Importance of a Natural Cream Cleanser

With the dangers of harmful chemicals and pesticides used in food products becoming common knowledge, most people are much more conscious than they once were about the foods they buy, with more and more people choosing products that are free of harmful chemicals and additives. It is easy to forget that what we apply to our skin, the largest organ in our body, should be of equal concern as what we put in to our bodies.

When it comes to keeping our skin healthy, one of the most important products in our skin care regimen is the cleanser. A cleanser is usually used both morning and night which, for most of us, makes it the most frequently applied skin care product that we use. The fact that a cleanser is applied so often makes it even more important to find a quality product with natural and safe ingredients.

As we age, our skin becomes drier and we produce less of the natural oils that keep our skin moisturized, and fine lines and wrinkles become more prominent as production of collagen and elastin slows. Therefore, it is important to look for a moisturizing and all natural cream cleanser that washes away dirt and impurities without stripping the skin of moisture. There are several natural, plant derived moisturizers that are wonderful for aging skin such as shea butter, sesame oil and jojoba oil.

The nuts of the karite tree are carefully processed to produce shea butter, a wonderful moisturizer found in some cleansers. It is a rich source of antioxidants such as Vitamins A&E as well as crucial fatty acids that help aging skin retain elasticity. Recent research also suggests that cinnamic acid found in shea butter reduces the negative effects of UV damage.

Sesame oil pressed from sesame seeds is often used in cooking, but it offers many benefits through topical application as well. It is an antioxidant-rich oil that is believed to increase circulation, repairing damaged skin cells and restoring a healthy glow to aging skin. It is also rich in Vitamins A&E which help heal sun damage and reverse signs of aging.

Jojoba oil from the seed of the jojoba tree is a unique moisturizer in that it closely resembles human sebum, the skin’s natural lubricant. Jojoba is non-comedogenic and doesn’t evaporate quickly like many water based moisturizers. It provides a protective barrier keeping the moisture in while nourishing the skin.

Luckily, we need not sacrifice effectiveness when choosing a natural product, some of the most effective ingredients that we can find in cream cleansers come from plant sources. Our skin deserves the same special care as the rest of our body, so remember to keep it natural when searching for your next cleanser.

Natural Oils in Eyelashes Care

If you need to stop the loss of eyelashes, a mixture of burdock and sea buckthorn oils infused with hips will help you. It should be used daily. Dog rose fruits, dried or fresh, should be thoroughly crushed, and 1 tablespoon of the raw material mixture should be poured with these oils (in 2 tablespoons). Infuse it in a dark place for 10 days, then strain and use. You can add castor oil and oily solution of vitamin A to the mixture.

Sea buckthorn oil nourishes the lashes, softens them and makes them fluffy. It also can be used separately or mixed with other oils in equal parts.

Peach, almond, olive and coconut oils are also perfectly suited for strengthening of weak lashes.

Peach oil can be used simultaneously for the treatment of eyelashes and eyebrows, just do compresses with it. Make some thin cotton flagella, soak them with warm oil, and apply on eyelashes and eyebrows. Cover them with strips of parchment paper and fix with a bandage. After 10-15 minutes, remove the wrap and wash your face with warm water.

Likewise, use almond oil. There is a lot of vitamin E in it, so it not only helps your lashes to grow and makes them softer, but also improves the skin state, which is also important for nutrition and health of the eyelashes.

General condition of lashes gets better, if you use for care a mixture of castor, sea buckthorn and pine oils. This combination is suitable for the maintenance of normal condition of healthy eyelashes.

Do not forget that you should not allow the oils to get into your eyes: if they get on the mucous membrane, they form an oily film which is difficult to wash off.

Be sure to wash off the oil after such procedures - after a certain time or in the morning. Repeat the procedures on a regular basis and be persistent, and your lashes will certainly become thicker and longer.

Castor Oil for Beautiful Eyelashes

Various oils can have a beneficial effect on eyelashes, and each of them does something good. For example, castor oil prevents the loss of eyelashes and improves their structure; rose oil relieves irritation of eyelids and slows the aging of skin; almond oil makes eyelashes grow better. You can use these oils in a mixture or separately. A mixture of oils is applied on the eyelids and eyelashes in a small amount. Keep it for 10-15 minutes, and wash off with warm water. To stimulate the growth of eyelashes, oils are applied to the skin where the eyelashes grow.

If castor oil is applied to the eyelashes 3 times a week for one hour, then they will gradually cease to break and fall out; they will grow better, and become fluffy. If the eyelashes are exceedingly fragile and falls out are very actively, you have to lubricate the eyelashes with castor oil every day, at bedtime, and wash it off only in the morning. Such a procedure is particularly necessary for women who use mascara daily.

Adding to the castor oil solutions of vitamins A and E will provide better nutrition of eyelashes and make them velvety. Per 3-4 drops of castor oil one drop of vitamin solution should be added.

Eyelashes will grow well and will be longer if lubricated with a mixture of castor oil and rum - 1:1. When applying such a mixture you should be especially careful to make sure that it does not gets into your eyes.

You can use a mixture of castor oil with petroleum jelly - 1:1 as well.

A mixture of castor oil with oil extracts of calendula and chamomile is used for strengthening and nourishing the eyelashes, as well as for softening the eyelid skin.

Owners of too light eyelashes can lubricate them with a mixture of castor oil with strong brewed black tea or carrot juice - in both cases the ingredients are mixed 1:1. This combination stimulates the growth of eyelashes well.

Beautiful Eyelashes Needs Natural Care

Expressiveness and attractiveness of woman's glance depends much on what her eyelashes look like. Of course, most women would like to have beautiful eyelashes, long and thick, preferably of a dark color; however, not every woman has such eyelashes by nature.

This does not mean that we should accept and be content with what we have: we can always do our eyelashes more thick and fluffy, and even make them grow.

This is not about eyelash extensions or using lengthening mascara, although these methods can also help: they give the result, but it is always temporary, as for the eyelashes condition, such methods often do not affect it the best way.

If you are lucky enough to have beautiful and long eyelashes of your own, you need to care for them, too. Eyelashes are hair, too, but if we take care of our hair, the lashes are often just colored. Eyelashes suffer from everyday exposure of mascara; they weaken and begin to fall out.

How are our eyelashes arranged? They are bristly hairs that grow on our eyelids: - in 3-4 rows on upper eyelids, and in 1-2 rows on lower eyelids. The total number of the hairs is around 200, and each of them lives for 3-5 months, when a hair falls out, then grows a new one.

When eyelashes fall out, and then new ones grow, it is natural, but sometimes they literally crumble, and then we have to turn to specialists to determine the cause of their loss. Better not bring your eyelashes to such a condition but start taking care of them while they still can be helped by simple means - the more so because it doesn’t need a lot of time.

Now cosmetics manufacturers are offering a lot of means for the care of lashes, but it is better to use natural remedies. They help to strengthen the lashes, give them normal nutrition, make them thick and bulky, and even stimulate their growth.

Strengthening masks for eyelashes must be done regularly, better in the evening, before bedtime, after removing makeup and washing.

How to Choose a New Perfume

The choice of a perfume is a responsible task since it must emphasize the individuality, character and emotions of a person. To find a flavor that would really fit your personality; you need to learn some secrets of perfumes.

To determine the direction of the odor
To make a decision about a new flavor, you must first understand flavors of what direction you prefer. A perfume can be floral, fruity, woody, or spicy. Often the choice depends on how a particular scent sounds like on the skin, on the memories that it evokes, and on the emotions it causes.

Hear the sound of a fragrance on the skin
The same aroma will sound differently on different people’s skin. It happens so because the epidermis tends to change the characteristics of the perfume. To find out whether a flavor is suitable for you, you need to test it on the surge zones - on the wrist bend, behind the ear lobe, and on the side of the neck, and then wait for half an hour. Thus, you can truly understand the sound of fragrance on your skin, catch the slightest nuances of it, and feel if it fits you.

Understand the flavor notes
Each fragrance is a building with complex architecture or a piece of music with lots of notes. Connecting all the notes results in a kind of a pyramid, where the top notes are highlighted, sensing immediately after applying the perfume, the notes of the heart - they are shown after ten or twelve minutes, and base notes, which are the basic sound of the flavor. Only after an hour you can feel the real, basic scent of the perfume. Exactly during this time all the three groups of notes reveal their sounds and help to understand if the perfume fits you.

Choose the correct formula
Another difficulty is the choice of a formula that suits you most: eau de toilette, a perfume, a lotion, eau de cologne, a solid perfume, or perfumed powder. For daily use eau de toilette is the best because of its unobtrusive transparent scent envelops you with an invisible haze, without overloading your image. Lotions and perfumed powder delicately flavor the skin, too. For a more intense sound eau de perfume or a perfume are more appropriate, which help to create a strong fragrant cocoon around you during your evening going out.

Apply the fragrance correctly
There is a peculiar belief that a perfume should be applied in places that often kissed. Put a drop of perfume on the wrist bend, behind the ear lobe, on the side of the neck, and in a hole between your breasts. Use a perfume moderately. Only two or three sprayings of toilet water would be enough for light flavor flair and for its delicate sound.

Store your perfume properly
For a perfume to please you for a long time by its unique flavor and not changing it, it is necessary to observe the rules of its storage because perfume does not like direct sunlight, extreme changes in temperature, and the heat. Perfume is best stored in its original packaging. On average, after opening a fragrance maintains its quality for two to five years.

Male Manicure Tips

The word "manicure" sounds somehow not mannishly, but it is well-conditioned nails that make difference between guys and monkeys. Men are getting closer and closer to novelties in nail care. It does not at all mean that they color them brightly, no, they just treat them correctly. Are you intrigued? If you don’t want to visit a salon, below is the step-by step algorithm of a nail care for men at home.

You will need:
• Nail nippers
• A nail-file
• A three-sided polishing file
• A cuticle stick

Step 1. Nail nippers
Process your nails with nail nippers, removing only the ends in order not to damage fingers. Give them a square shape, remove hangnails.
Note: if the length of a nail is less than 0,8 inches it is better to use a nail-file.

Step 2. A manicure file
Use a file to make nails roundish and smooth. This will make them look well-groomed, and will allow them to grow exactly.
Note: file nails in one direction: then they won't peel, and hangnails won’t appear.

Step 3. A polishing file
Sounds sexy, doesn’t it? In fact, it is very funny that many young men take it as a womanish thing. This kind of a file is necessary to even the nail plate, and to give shine to the nails. This is the finishing stroke of your manicure.

Step 4. A cuticle stick
Cuticle is a skin layer distant from the center which is located above a nail surface. Removing a cuticle, you make your nails look more well-groomed. Humidify the skin with a lotion or a special means for cuticle to soften it. Then move it, using the round end of the stick.
Note: usually in the cuticle area there are hangnails. Don't damage them; otherwise you can cause an infection.

Step 5. Again a three-sided file
Use the third side to finish your nail care. Don’t get upset, it’s healthy nail shine. It’s typical not only for girls, but also for men.
